New Year

To sum up some of the success of 2013 was an experience with audioboo. This was an app in Edmodo, but it wasn't working at the time. They have since fixed the issues. However, that didn't stop my assignment-we just posted the URL in Edmodo instead of putting it in the library. So, it was Christmas time and I like to relate what we are doing in class to the season. I had them pick an object that they associate with this time of year, that way it included all the various religious beliefs, and photograph it with their phones. If they couldn't take a photo, they could find one on the internet. They then wrote a poem about the object. We have been studying poetry so there was background there. Then the fun stuff. Using audioboo.fm ( this is a free site where you can record and upload photos, its a social networking site)they uploaded the photos and read their poems outloud. They then posted the URL in Edmodo, under comments so they could listen to each others'. It really was a great, easy, creative assignment that could be adapted for a lot of subjects I think-perhaps foreign language? But take my advice, it gets loud when they are recording, it might make a better homework assignment, although they would have to be walked through it first. On another note, my New Year's resolutions are: to improve my online profile, through AboutMe and keep up with the bloggers I enjoy. One new vocab word I've learned is APP Smashing. Doesn't it sound fun? Although I didn't know the word for it, I have been doing it! So now I know-anybody who reads this-catch up later with my online profile(that's not my profile pic, haha)and see how I get it together-thanks to the many bloggers, tweeters and print writers! check out: tech/learning article
